Bengaluru: The Bengaluru Police has arrested four people who hacked the website of the State Congress (KPCC). Miscreants created a fake website and posted unauthorised posts during the Karnataka Assembly elections. Another accused is absconding. The accused have been identified as Dharmesh J., Arun, Siddharth and Venkatesh. It is known that these four accused are connected with a company based in Hassan. Police has laid a trap for another accused, who is said to have links with a political strategy firm working with the BJP.
This website was hacked when the state Congress leaders were busy campaigning. In this regard, the Congress had lodged a complaint with the Cybercrime Police Station. In this backdrop, the police conducted an investigation and arrested the accused. After getting the hosting details, registration and login password of the fake website from the accused, it was found that M/S Wat Fab Technologies Pvt Ltd of Bengaluru has created a fake website.
The organisation has offices in Hassan and Bengaluru and the police raided the office on August 10 and arrested the accused. Venkatesh Hassan is an employee of a private firm and the other three are its directors. Officials said Shashank Bharadwaj, an employee of the political strategy firm, had contacted the company to create a fake website.
The website of the accused was hacked in the month of February. Then a fake website named KPCC.in was created and mentioned that it’s a party of corrupt. A list of allegations against the entire Congress was made, it is alleged.
Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, Deputy CM D. K. Shivakumar and Minister K..J. George photos were used on the cover page. These photos were mentioned as communal, criminal and corrupt. On other pages, he had put many controversial information including allegations against Congress, corruption in Congress administration, communal riots.
