Mangaluru: In a vigorous pursuit to eliminate drug trafficking within Mangalore, the Mangalore Central Crime Branch (CCB) has apprehended four individuals embroiled in the distribution of MDMA (Methylene deoxy methamphetamine) within the city limits. These proactive actions took place through two distinct operations, conducted in conjunction with the Mangalore North Police Station and Kankanady Police Station under the Commissionerate’s jurisdiction, leading to the confiscation of a total of 200 grams of MDMA.
Under the astute guidance of P. A. Hegde, Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) of the Mangaluru CCB unit, the police were alerted to the activities of three individuals operating a KA-19-MG-2744 Maruti Swift vehicle. Information suggested that these individuals had procured MDMA from Bengaluru and were dispersing it in the Falnir area of the North Police Station limits in Mangaluru.Prompt action ensued, resulting in the apprehension of the suspects, Mohammad Hanif A. N (47), Syed Faujan (30), and Sirajuddin Abubakar (35), all hailing from Kerala.
During the operation, the enforcement team seized 100 grams of MDMA with an approximate value of Rs. 5,00,000/-, in addition to Rs. 4000/- in cash, one Maruti Swift car, three mobile phones, and a digital weight scale. The combined estimated value of the confiscated assets stands at around Rs. 10,94,500/-. A case has been formally registered against the accused at the Mangaluru North Police Station.
In a parallel development involving the distribution of MDMA, Mangaluru CCB received intelligence regarding an individual illicitly peddling MDMA at Kankanady Railway Station Road in the Alape Village of Mangaluru. Responding swiftly, the Police initiated a raid, resulting in the apprehension of Ibrahim Arshad V. K. (30), a resident of Dhumarakadu, Minja Panchayat, Miyapadu, Manjeshwar, Kasaragod, Kerala.
The operation culminated in the seizure of 100 grams of MDMA, valued at approximately Rs. 5,00,000/-, along with Rs. 1000/- in cash, one mobile phone, and a digital weight scale. The total estimated worth of the confiscated assets amounts to roughly Rs. 5,11,500/-. A case has been officially registered against Ibrahim Arshad V. K. at the Kankanady Police Station.
The authorities continue to diligently pursue other individuals associated with this drug network. It is noteworthy that Ibrahim Harshad faces a separate case pertaining to the transportation of 175 kg of ganja at Puttur Town Police Station. Additionally, he is implicated in two assault cases documented at the Manjeshwar Police Station in Kerala’s Kasaragod District, as well as one assault case registered at Kumble Police Station.
The meticulous operation was orchestrated by ACP P. A. Hegde and his adept team from the CCB unit. Key figures in the operation included Police Inspector Shyam Sundar H. M., PSI Narendra, Sharanappa Bhandari, Sudeep M. V., ASI Mohan K. V., and other committed CCB personnel. Their coordinated efforts proved pivotal in dismantling this drug network and upholding the rule of law.
