Bengaluru: “The lock of KRS dam is not in our hands. It is in the hands of the Central Government. Does not Bommai know about this law? Politics should not be done in all issues,” DyCM DK Shivakumar lashed out.
After the CSR grant utilisation meeting for the education sector, DyCM Shivakumar replied to the question of Former CM Bommai and BJP leaders’ criticism that the Government forgot the interest of the farmers of the state and released Cauvery water to Tamil Nadu. We are not the ones who release water to Tamil Nadu. The Central Government has the power to do it. Doesn’t Bommai not know about this? He questioned.
Our Congress Government is committed to protect the welfare of the farmers of the state. For this reason, I have already given permission to irrigate crops twice after becoming a minister. Tamil Nadu has asked for 27 TMC water, but they have not been given as much water as they asked for. If we act as we want, the court should be listening to us right, he questioned.
Tamil Nadu has boycotted the Cauvery Tribunal meeting held recently, is it possible to stay in conflict like this? Those who run the Government should think in all ways. We have to take legal advice and act accordingly. Otherwise we will have to suffer even bigger losses.”
When asked about the farmers protesting, he said, “Those who are protesting are our farmers, it is their right to protest. But the Supreme Court should not listen to us. Farmers are also allowed to file an application in the court. There have been many legal battles in the past. In the last 30-40 years, this year has received less rainfall. Even in such a difficult time, we are in favour of the farmers of our state and have released water because we respect the law,” he said.
I will adopt 3 schools
“The Government is planning how to build new schools through CSR money and how to make good use of it. I also have 3 educational institutions and will adopt 3 schools at panchayat level,” announced DK Shivakumar.
“CSR money is being used only for urbanisation, it is our wish that it should be used for the education of rural children, our dream is that 3 new schools should be built in each panchayat, for which a meeting was held on the proper use of the money,” he informed.
“The best educational institutions should adopt Government schools and send their teachers to rural schools to teach. International quality education should be available to every rural child of our Karnataka. It is an important idea and plan of our Government,” he said.
