Bengaluru: Home Minister Dr. G. Parameshwar said that the Commissioner and DGP have been instructed to provide adequate police security to the scholars who are under threat.
Responding to the issue of threats to writers, Home Minister Parameshwar said, writers have asked me for time. I gave them time today. Police officials have already been instructed to provide security to them, he said.
He added he has sent the letter which he received to the DG.
We have a very bitter memory. Kalaburgi’s case is before us. We have not forgotten Gauri Lankesh’s murder. In times like these, literature has come under threat. We take this seriously. I have instructed the Commissioner and DG to provide protection, he said.
He added that he will take this case very seriously.
I don’t know who made the threat. They will know who they are after they meet. I will get information about who it is and take appropriate action, he said.
