Telangana: The Congress party’s drive to finalise candidates for the upcoming Assembly elections has garnered substantial attention and enthusiasm. With a remarkable surge in applications spanning all 119 constituencies, the party finds itself invigorated by the widespread interest in its candidate selection process.
The response has been nothing short of impressive, with a considerable number of aspirants vying for the opportunity to represent the Congress party. The culmination of the application phase witnessed more than a thousand prospective candidates submitting their applications for electoral tickets at the Gandhi Bhavan. Notably, this influx includes a broad spectrum of individuals, ranging from influential leaders in various districts, former contenders, aspirants with industrial backgrounds, dedicated social activists, and representatives of caste associations.
Commencing on August 18, the application phase has seen a diverse array of aspirants stepping forward. Interestingly, among the contenders are leaders who have recently made the transition from the BJP and BRS parties to align themselves with the Congress party’s vision. Furthermore, the proactive nature of certain candidates is evident in their applications for candidacy across multiple constituencies, reflecting their commitment to serving the public.
A distinctive trend that has emerged is the multiple applications received for a single constituency, emphasising the high level of interest among potential candidates. On average, each constituency has attracted between 8 to 9 aspirants, showcasing the healthy competition within the party’s ranks.

Notable personalities within the Congress party have also put their names forward for various constituencies. PCC President Revanth Reddy’s application for the Kodangal assembly seat, MP Uttam Kumar Reddy’s bid for the Huzur Nagar Constituency, and Padmavati’s interest in the Kodada seat underscore the party’s internal dynamism. Additionally, the proactive involvement of figures such as MLA Seethakka and Campaign Committee Chairman Madhuyashki Goud further accentuates the comprehensive engagement of party leadership in the candidate selection process.
The palpable surge in enthusiasm and participation surrounding the application process for MLA candidature has injected a renewed sense of vigour into the Congress party. The widespread response not only attests to the party’s enduring appeal but also signifies a potentially invigorating assembly election ahead, as the Congress party works to translate this overwhelming interest into a formidable electoral representation.
