My AI, Snapchat’s AI chatbot, has left users perplexed after it uploaded a story on its own and then refused to answer questions about it. Users have been sharing their frightening experiences on Twitter in a rush of discussions sparked by the occurrence.
My AI, a ChatGPT-powered AI chatbot, demonstrated unsettling behaviour by sharing a story with a divided wall in two distinct colours. Users raised concern after asking the chatbot about the self-posted tale and having it appear as though it was “ghosting” them.
Some users captured screenshots of their interactions with the chatbot, revealing that My AI referred to the story posting as an ‘experiment’.
In response to the incident, Snapchat described it as a “temporary outage” and said the problem had been fixed. By responding to several individuals’ worries on Twitter, the firm acknowledged the situation.
My AI, which made its debut in February of this year, was created to compete with other AI chatbots like Bing, Bard, and ChatGPT. The chatbot was formerly only accessible to subscribers to Snapchat Plus, but it was eventually made available to all users.
Evan Spiegel, the CEO of Snapchat, had underlined the company’s goal of incorporating AI interactions into users’ daily lives, portraying Snapchat as a messaging service that fosters regular AI engagement.
