Bengaluru: The Congress Government in Karnataka has declared war against those who post fake news on social media. It has warned that strict action will be taken against those who spread fake news. On this matter, Deputy Chief Minister D. K. Shivakumar said, “we are bringing a law to prevent fake news in the state. Some leaders are being bullied.” He said that the law will be enforced by the Home Department to prevent fake news.
Talking about the meeting with Minister Priyank Kharge, we discussed the issue promised by him in the manifesto. We discussed some programs in Bengaluru. We will do WiFi Zone in Bengaluru. He said that he will soon bring a law to stop fake news.
He spoke about the 40% commission during the last BJP Government’s tenure and the investigation into the Corona scam. He said that I did not speak about this, someone else will.
On August 26, the state Government formed an inquiry commission led by retired High Court judge John Michael Cunha to investigate and report on the allegations of corruption in the purchase of medicines and equipment during the last governtment’s period of corona infection. The Public Accounts Committee had ordered an investigation based on the serious allegations in its earlier report regarding the procurement of Corona drugs and equipment.
Bengaluru City Police Commissioner Dayananda said that two experts have been appointed in each police station of the city regarding the spread of false news. Technical experts will be appointed, and action will be taken against the culprits. He said that two staff members were identified and instructed to keep an eye on social media.
