Bengaluru: Minister for Housing and Minority Welfare Zameer Ahmed Khan has instructed to teach Science and Mathematics subjects including Kannada and English in madrasas.
Speaking at the Minority Welfare Department progress review meeting at the Directorate of Minorities Welfare Hall, Zameer Ahmed said that Kannada should be taught compulsorily in madrasas. He directed that action should be taken to teach other languages along with English.
There are 1265 madrasas registered with the Waqf Board in the state, out of which five thousand children of 100 madrasas should start learning practically from this year. He told the officials to prepare a proposal to start it in all madrasas from next year.
He said that by learning Kannada, English and other subjects in madrasas, the students there will get better opportunities in the future. In the same context, to increase the amount of incentive money given to study abroad under the jurisdiction of the Directorate of Minorities from Rs. 20 Lakh to Rs. 30 Lakh and also to increase the amount of incentive money from Rs. 2 Lakh to Rs.3 Lakh, Minister suggested.
At the same time, the Minister released the handbook of various subjects including Science and Mathematics prepared to improve the learning quality of one lakh students of classes 9, 10 and 12 of Morarji Desai Residential School and College and Maulana Azad Madari schools under the Directorate of Minority Welfare and the handbook of the Directorate’s projects.
He instructed to review and submit a report on the development of minority colonies undertaken by the Directorate of Minorities in the last two years under the jurisdiction of all metropolitan corporations and local bodies of the state. The Minister instructed to give a comprehensive report on how much work has been done, how much is pending payment, the amount of work, the amount paid to the contractors.
Directorate of Minority Welfare has printed a QR code for each subject in the handbook of various subjects including science and mathematics prepared to improve the learning quality of students of class 9, 10 and 12.
