Hassan: Amidst the controversy sparked by Mysuru MP Pratap Simha’s alleged statement, Pradeep H S, the Karnataka Bhim Army’s Hassan district president, has taken a firm stance by unveiling a new poster that highlights the peaceful essence of Mahishasura.
Pradeep, who leads the Hassan Bhim Army, has successfully organized Mahisha Dasara for the past three years and is determined to continue this tradition. Responding to MP Pratap Simha’s remarks, Pradeep expressed his concerns, stating, “It appears there is a misunderstanding of Dalit leaders. Just as you oppose Tipu Sultan Jayanti, why oppose Mahisha Dasara celebrations? Mahisha Dasara is our right, and we are not seeking approval under your rule. We are acting within the framework of the Constitution.”
Pradeep emphasized that the Constitution guarantees their right to celebrate Mahisha Dasara, and they intend to exercise that right fully. They have been diligently working to share their ancestors’ history with communities far and wide, going door to door.
He further added, “No one can obstruct our efforts. This time, Dalits should proudly display Mahishasura’s image in every household and celebrate Mahisha Dasara together, from one house to the next.”
The Bhim Army’s assertion underscores the importance of preserving cultural traditions while firmly adhering to constitutional principles. The ongoing debate surrounding Mahisha Dasara sheds light on the complexities of cultural identity and heritage preservation in today’s diverse and evolving society.
