Bengaluru: In a recent public address, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah acknowledged the concerns of Gruha Lakshmi scheme beneficiaries who had not received their due payments. He pledged swift action to resolve the issue and assured those affected that they would receive two months’ worth of payments in the coming month.
The Gruha Lakshmi scheme, a significant initiative of the Congress government, was launched in Mysuru on August 30, Raksha Bandhan, in the presence of Rahul Gandhi. Initially, Rs. 2,000 was transferred to the bank accounts of women across the state. However, reports soon emerged of some recipients not receiving the funds, prompting government intervention.
During an appearance on a private news channel program, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah shared insights into the situation. He stated, “The State Government has allocated funds to the Women and Child Welfare Department to support the Gruha Lakshmi scheme. In the first phase, Rs. 4,600 crore has been disbursed, with a substantial allocation of Rs. 17,500 crore for the fiscal year 2023-24. Rs. 4,600 crores for August and September have already been released.”
The Chief Minister emphasized the government’s commitment to the welfare of scheme beneficiaries. Recognizing the challenges some faced in accessing their funds, Siddaramaiah assured the public that the forthcoming disbursements would cover two months’ worth of payments, effectively addressing the temporary delay.
