Bengaluru: Chief Minister Siddaramaiah promised to establish Vishwakarma Study Center in the state.
Speaking at the Vishwakarma Jayanti program organized by the Department of Kannada and Culture at Rabindra Kalakshetra on September 17, CM Siddaramaiah said, The underprivileged need to have economic and social power. The demand to create a department for artisans will be reviewed. He assured that there is a demand to give more grants to the corporation and the facilities on the model of the facilities available to the weavers.
We have to pay the debt of the society after being born in the society. It is our duty to do so. It doesn’t matter how long we live. Rashtra Kavi Kuvempu says that all people are born as human beings, but when they grow up, they become human beings. Our contribution to society is to strive to be global. We should try to live as human beings. They are creating conflict between religions, castes and creed. Religion is the way of life. Religion exists for human life. A religion that hates man cannot be called a religion. As Basavanna said kindness is the root of religion. Human religion is more than all religions. Let’s try to be human. He said that if we work to pay off the debt of the society, life will be worthwhile.
Earlier, when I was the chief minister, I had decided and provided funds for the creation of many backward castes and corporations. If economically and socially backward societies are not given economic and social power, it will be difficult for them to come into the mainstream.
If the respective castes celebrate their anniversaries, the caste color will come. Caste does not matter if the government does it. We believe in building an inclusive society. A society of few castes should not be built. We have economic and social inequality. From time immemorial they have skills and abilities but are not financially strong. Economic and social political opportunities should be available to be empowered. Otherwise, no caste can rise. BR Ambedkar had said that for the independence of the country to be meaningful, it is not enough to have political democracy, there should be economic social democracy. He reiterated that change is possible only when political democracy rests on the foundation of social democracy.
Even after 76 years of independence, there is social and economic inequality. All are equal in the constitution. Equality can be brought about if power is vested in those who are committed to implementing the objectives of the Constitution. It is not possible to have power with those who are against the constitution. As a pluralistic society, we should build an inclusive society. Unity should be found in diversity. It is not a religion-based country. A nation based on caste, not language. He said that the constitution says tolerance and coexistence.
Everyone should love and respect our religion. But don’t hate another religion. We can be human only when we treat them with love and respect. Congress has allowed many people to become members of Rajya Sabha and Legislative Council. Bimba Raikar and Raghu Acharya were appointed by the Congress government. Political empowerment has been done when given the opportunity. He said that if there is no political power, there will be no one to raise a voice on your behalf.
Without education society cannot progress. The caste system is inertial and motionless. If a social system does not have economic and social power, the system will not change. Movement is possible only when this occurs. Those who are against change are social enemies, he said.
I do not hesitate to participate in the jubilee programs celebrated by the government. If the race program is celebrated by the government, it will be more important. So the government is celebrating many backward jubilee celebrations, he said.
