Handloom Training program organised by Kadike Trust was inaugurated on Day of Gandhi Jayanthi at Saroja Annappas Loom Shed , Hoseri village.
Kadike Trust after successfully bringing back the Udupi Saree weaving from the path of extinction , is organising this program for the youths of Hoseri a small remote hamlet in Yelajith village at Byndoor Taluk.
Hoseri is Three kilometers from nearest bus route and has no job opportunity there.
In This training , 7 youths with a few from tribal communities , will be trained in hand weaving Stoles, Shawls , bath towels and other materials in Arecanut and other natural colours.
They will be trained by famous Master Trainer Chandran from Trivandrum.
Period of Training will be for 6 months with Stipend and the trainees will be supported there after in branding , marketing and other required support.
Program was started with singing ‘Raghupathi Raghava ‘Gandhijis favourite bhajan by Dhrithi and Trainees.
Shanker Narayan Hoseri, founder of Vegan Society while addressing , lauded the initiative by Kadike Trust in making vision of Gram Swaraj by Mahatma Gandhiji a reality.
Shreekumar Trustee Kadike Trust narrated the relevance of gandhian thoughts in present scenario.
Mamatha Rai President Kadike Trust briefed about activities of Trust and Training program.
Trustees Purushottam Adve and Sachin Kumar were present.
Shashikanth Kotian M D Shivalli weavers Society, Dinesh M. D. Udupi weavers society, Farmers Lingaiah Marati , Narayana Ganiga , Sushila Naik,Mahabala Marati and other Seniors , youths and children participated in the event.
