Bengaluru: Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar said, “Instructions have been given to resume development works in Bengaluru which have been stalled after obtaining permission from the departments.”
The Deputy Chief Ministers visited and inspected the ongoing drainage work site next to the Ayyappa Swamy Devasthanam in Vasantnagar and later inspected the widening of Jayamahal Palace Road and the underground cable installation work.
He instructed the corporation officials that these works should be completed as soon as possible. MLA Rizwan Arshad, BDA Chief Rakesh Singh, BBMP Commissioner Tushar Girinath were present on this occasion. Responding to the media later, Shivakumar said, “Tender sure works have been done in Bengaluru at a cost of crores of rupees. No one should further dig the road in Tender Sure Road, cable line is allowed to be extended. No one is using them. Wherever we have established this system, it should be used legally. Cables should be taken underground to improve the look of Bengaluru.”
Rainwater falling in Bengaluru should not be allowed to stay stagnant on the roads but should be flowed through drains for which we have suggested to resume the workshops which have already been given permission. Public can inform officials about potholes in Bengaluru. They will be fixed immediately. We discussed identifying potholes within the police department. The police department and the corporation will work together to fix the potholes. This work needs to be done on priority basis. Meanwhile, on the 7th of this month, we will visit outer ring road and discussions will be held to find a solution to the traffic problem.
“Regarding the pending BBMP bill, it has been informed to complete 352 package works costing five thousand crores in Amrutha Nagarothana project. The investigation of the works will also continue and a report will be submitted. The government has released a grant for bill payment of Rs 675 crores. About 50-75% of the bill is paid. Rs 432 crore BBMP grant will also be released. The remaining balance will be paid. Engineers have been entrusted with the responsibility of starting the work and completing the work as soon as possible without causing any trouble to the people,” he said.
When asked how far the SIT investigation has progressed, he said, “The investigation is going on. After completion, its report will be submitted. We are paying a small amount of bills for that,” he said.
