Bengaluru: Hijab is making noise again in the state. Last year, the issue of going to schools and colleges wearing hijab led to communal clashes and riots across the state. There was noise at the national level. Pro-Hindu organizations have expressed outrage over the fact that the government has now given permission to write exams wearing hijab. Karnataka Examination Authority has allowed wearing hijab to write the exam. It has been said that hijab can be worn for the examinations for the posts of Nigam boards. Pro-Hindu organizations are outraged by this.
In the past, there was a lot of uproar in the state regarding going to schools and colleges wearing hijab and the Supreme Court had stepped up. It was also said in the court that it is not allowed to conduct PU examinations wearing hijab. But now the Karnataka examination authority KEA has given permission to appear in the examination wearing hijab. In the same month, on October 28 and October 29, examinations will be held for filling up the posts of various corporation boards. The Karnataka Examinations Authority has said that candidates can appear for these exams wearing hijab.
KEA has put some conditions to allow wearing hijab for the exam. Candidates should appear at the examination center one hour before the examination. They were informed that they will be checked by a female staff. Ramya, Director of Karnataka Examination Authority said that this opportunity was given to avoid commotion in the examination center.
Higher Education Minister Dr. M.C. Sudhakar has spoken. We cannot give an answer to those who want to create a problem in the matter of writing exams while wearing hijab. We have taken action for everyone’s freedom. He said that there are some people to create problems and you cannot take a decision by asking them.
There is a Supreme Court order on Hijab for colleges. Board exam is going on now. It is allowed to write the NEET exam wearing hijab. In the examination conducted by our KEA, we have been instructed to come one hour early and get checked. There is no confusion in this. Some may be trying to create confusion by citing other reasons. The minister said that everyone has the right to dress according to their choice.
