Bengaluru: A high-level committee has been formed to create public awareness and to submit a comprehensive report on the steps to be taken to prevent the sale of products and items made from any organ of wildlife including tiger claws, tiger teeth.
The Minister of Forests, Wildlife and Environment Eshwar Khandre has issued a clear instruction to the Deputy Chief Secretary of the department in this regard and directed to form a committee under the leadership of the Deputy Principal Chief Conservator of Forests – APCCF (Wildlife).
He directed the committee to submit a report within a week about the cases (complaints) registered since the Wildlife Protection Act came into force, the action taken under the law and the steps to be taken in the cases currently registered and being registered.
Varthur Santhosh, who was a contestant in the Bigg Boss reality show, was arrested by the forest officials for wearing a locket with a tiger claw. After that, many dignitaries were also receiving complaints about the possession of tiger claws, and demands were also heard to completely control the collection, sale, stock of wild animals and to take action against the culprits. In this context, the minister has instructed to submit a report.
