Dharawad: Lord Ganesha is the destroyer of obstacles in the eyes of Hindus, as per belief. But here is a Muslim woman, who is engaged in the service of Ganesha as she has been making Ganapati idols being a Muslim woman.
The preparation of Ganesha idols is going on in full swing at Gopanakoppa in Hubballi as Gowri Ganesha Festival is just a few days away. A variety of Ganesha idols are being made in Gopanakoppa. Suman Haveri is the woman involved in making idols of Hindu Gods. Suman’s work has been appreciated by the people.
The Muslim woman works for Arun Yadav, a resident of Gopanakoppa. Arun has been making Ganesha idols for the past 15 years. Suman joined Arun four years ago. And it was Arun Yadav who taught Suman how to make Ganesha idols. Suman is an expert in decorating and giving final touches to the idols.
Now, Arun’s son Anup Yadav and his wife Nirupama are making Ganesha idols.
After the ban on POP, soil is being brought from Porbandar in Gujarat to make special idols. A beautiful Ganesha idol is made using light weight, crack-free paper.
Here, people of different castes and religions prepare idols of Lord Ganesha. Ganesha idols are one foot to eight feet in height, while Suman, irrespective of religion, is engaged in making Ganesha idols.
