Bengaluru: One of the strongest leaders of BJP Sriramulu, who was elected as an MLA four times in a row and once as an MP, has suffered a crushing defeat in Ballari Rural.
Last time, BJP’s frontline leader, B. Sriramulu suffered a crushing defeat this time. Nagendra, the incumbent MLA of Congress, has won a landslide victory against Sriramulu.
Nagendra’s supporters and Congress workers are celebrating in Ballari after a landslide victory for Congress’s Nagendra in Ballari Rural constituency. He has established a huge lead of 20,163 votes against the State’s Health Minister B. Sriramulu, considered as one of the BJP’s prominent faces for oppressed classes. Sriramulu polled 27,767 votes, while Nagendra secured 47,930 votes.
This time a total of 8 candidates contested in the constituency. A total of 1,16,096 male voters, 1,22,181 female voters, 49 other voters including 2,38,326 voters were eligible to vote in the constituency. During the polling held on May 10, there was a moderate voter turnout of 76.09 percent in the constituency.
