Bengaluru: Heavy rains lashed Bengaluru for over three hours and underpass at K. R. Circle was inundated with car getting submerged at the spot. There were six of them in the car and they were rescued by breaking open the glass. Those stuck in the car were shifted to St. Martha’s Hospital.
Chief Minister Siddaramaiah rushed to K. R. Circle underpass and then to St. Martha’s Hospital where the rescued people were being treated. CM announced Rs. 5 lakh compensation to the family members of woman victim of the car tragedy. The deceased has been identified as Bhanurekha, a software employee working in Bengaluru. She along with her family members had rented a vehicle from Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh to Bengaluru.
A barricade has been put up at the mouth of the underpass, and it had fallen off due to the rain. As the vehicle got in it got stuck and the doors were jammed due to the water making it difficult to rescue the passengers, informed CM to the media persons. One more rain death has been reported from Chikkamagaluru.
