Unpresidental respect for Indian Prime Minister, second time address at US Congress by the same Indian PM as a first, state dinner, ans bilateral collaborations on various sectors were the key takeaways for both US and us. Mentioning Pakistan and asking it to stop terrorist activties is a major political victory for India. In the past there were mention of Kashmir disputes, PoK and LOC and most of the time it was like commanding messages from US prior or after the visits. But this time it was India which commanded the overall process starting from External Affairs Minister Jaishankar’s statements in September 2022.
Interesting bilateral statement did not include Russia and Ukraine issue, which clearly shows how India is on top of the list in geopolitics. Now, why this visit is more important to India?
Ranging from defence, healthcare, technology, and environment, what India breathe s can effect the entire world. And as a counterpart Europe and US looking upto India to lead this entire political game instead of China, which has become a routine now. If they won’t apply a break now, there would be nothing to stop China from becoming a super power.
India on the other hand is a trusted ally for any nation to invest in and share technology. With economically viable resources, and massive infra growth, both in connectivity and technology, India is a favourite hub for MNCs. However, rules and regulations of Union and state Government have limited some giant companies like Tesla to enter the market with full form. The meetings with such company heads during state dinner clearly sends a message that US is keen on such investments and it is now time to watch how India will make a way for such companies.
Keeping aside political affiliations and general elections schedule, PM Narendra Modi embarked himself as international leader somehow towering above the US President this time. The visuals, meeting schedules, statements from US Presidents including the dinner toast; “Two great nations, two great friends, and two great powers. Cheers” indicates how this visit of Modi is very important for the big boss of the world. Most of all the highlight of PM Modi’s address to US Congress was when he said “In the past few years, there have been many advances in AI- Artificial Intelligence. At the same time, there has been even more momentous development in another AI- America and India”, which sums up all.
FDI, a clear push to the Indian economy is expected to get a boost post this visit. China’s new colonial approach through loans is a worrisome factor for major countries of the world and they are expecting India to lead the geopolitics scenario, a golden opportunity for a nation which is aiming to reach 5 trillion mark by 2026. How India grabs this this opportunity, surmounting above the politics and other internal and external influences is for us to wait and watch.
