Bengaluru: Bangaloreans can now buy fresh fruits and vegetables online from Hopcoms and get them delivered at their doorstep. Apart from this, if a bulk order is placed for restaurants and weddings and other smaller events, it will be accompanied by sending goods to places. There is also a 10 per cent discount. Hopcoms is trying to enter the online fruit commodity market through the Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC) app and has listed 25 stores across the city.
Earlier, when Hopcoms tried to come to the online market, the centralised system didn’t help. But now with the new approach and decentralised marketplace, customers can choose and order a Hopcoms store in their place.
In May, 405 orders were placed, the idea of getting fresh fruits and vegetables at subsidised rates, which had made a profit of Rs. 62,791, gained Rs. 1,02,914 in June as it gained popularity.
Sources said that, the Hopcoms are working on a trial basis and if it is successful, then it will introduce new products in the market.
The ONDC has partnered with technology partner firm Innobits to regularly update the catalogue and price changes to the app. More than 7,500 farmers are part of Hopcoms and since the younger generation is technology-savvy, buying through the app will help them get more customers.
Having Hopcoms in the ONDC market will change the way online grocery stores work. The same pattern can be replicated in other districts and cities, giving consumers access to subsidised rates. At present, a fee of Rs. 50 is being charged for the transportation of goods, which will go to the delivery agent. ONDC is a great platform for the government and small-scale businesses where Hopcoms can start delivering products, creating new opportunities, not only on a single platform but also on platforms like Paytm, MyStore and MagicPin in the future.
Customers can place an order from Hopcoms by scanning the QR code or by logging in to the https://www.ondc.org/ondc-buyer-apps:
