Bengaluru: After studying the 10,479 suggestions received under the Brand Bangalore project related to “Samcharyukta Bangalore” and removing the similar suggestions, a total of 8412 suggestions will be divided into different categories and all of them will be consolidated and a report will be prepared.
The suggestions received from the public were observed through a demonstration in a seminar held in the auditorium of the Civil Engineering Department of the Indian Institute of Science on the topic of “Sancharayukta/Sarige Bangalore/Mobility” under the Brand Bangalore project.
The report was compiled in partnership with the Ramaiah Institute of Management’s Center for Sustainability and the Indian Institute of Science’s Department of Civil Engineering on the topic of “Sancharayukta/Sarige Bangalore/Mobility”.
The Head of BBMP Engineering Department and Chief Engineer, BS Prahlad said that under the Brand Bangalore project, the suggestions received from the citizens in 7 different subjects were separated and a report was prepared by the partnership educational institution. In this regard, many suggestions have been received regarding the issue of Sanchar Yukta in Bangalore and a plan will be formulated to implement it effectively, he said.
According to the Traffic Index 2022 rankings, Bangalore is considered the second most congested city in the world, with the number of vehicles increasing from just 1.7 lakh in 1985 to 1.09 crore by the end of 2022. In 2022, 247 pedestrians lost their lives due to road accidents in Bangalore. He said that we have to stop all this.
Construction of safe footpaths, enhancing safety at junctions with special emphasis on pedestrians is not only a civic duty but also a basic human right. In this regard, he said that efforts should be made to redesign the footpaths and build safe footpaths.

Tips from the seminar for a Traffic free Bangalore
• Provision of potable water for public on footpaths.
• Proper implementation of public transport system.
• Master plan should be done for proper road connectivity.
• Prevention of unauthorised parking on city roads.
• Signages should be installed throughout the city for the convenience of citizens.
• Construction of separate cycle lines on footpaths across the city.
• Construction of tunnel roads.
• Creating a blueprint and implementing it for the benefit of the next generation.
• Expedite completion of work along with extension of metro line in the city.
• Citizens use public transport instead of own vehicles.
• Implementing a comprehensive mobility plan.
• Proper maintenance of road networks in the city along with other necessary infrastructure including installation of junctions, turning road, U-turn, road center divider.
• The drains/canals constructed on the roadsides should be constructed in a scientific manner so as not to cause any kind of problem to the traffic.
• Make entire Bangalore a walkable city and make the pedestrian layouts uniform.
