The moon looks very beautiful when seen from the earth. Astronaut Neil Armstrong was the first person to walk on the moon’s surface on July 20, 1969, but 11 others have walked on the moon. All of them went to the moon between 1969 and 1973, of which 8 people died. Also, out of those 12 people, 2 people are said to be from NASA.

Neil Armstrong set foot on the moon for the first time on 20 July 1969 as part of the Apollo-11 mission. He was a naval aviator, test pilot and university professor. Armstrong was on the moon for 2 hours and 31 minutes.
Buzz Aldrin accompanied Neil Armstrong during the Apollo-11 mission. He was the second person in the world to walk on the moon. He is a former American astronaut, engineer and fighter pilot.
Pete Conrad was the third man to walk on the moon. America sent the Apollo 12 mission in November 1969, with which Conrad reached the moon. Conrad was selected in NASA’s second astronaut class in 1962. He died in a road accident in 1999.
Alan Bean went close to the moon with Pete Conrad, who was part of the Apollo 12 mission. He thus became the fourth person to walk on the moon. Bean retired from NASA in 1981.
Alan Shepard was the fifth man to walk on the moon. He was an American astronaut, naval aviator, test pilot and businessman. He went to the moon in February 1971 as part of the Apollo 14 mission. He was the second person to go into space and the first American citizen.
Edgar Mitchell stepped on the moon as part of the Apollo 14 mission and became the sixth person to do so. He spent nine hours working on the lunar surface in the Fra Mauro Highlands region.
David Scott went to the moon with the Apollo-15 mission. He is an American test pilot and NASA astronaut. Scott was the seventh person to walk on the moon. Scott went into space three times.
James Irwin was the eighth person to walk on the moon. He reached the moon through the Apollo 15 mission. Irwin was the pilot of the Apollo Lunar Module. He died in 1991 at the age of 61.
John Young flew to the moon as part of NASA’s Apollo 16 mission. He became the ninth man to walk on the moon in 1972 as the commander of the Apollo 16 mission. He passed away in 2018.
Charles Duke also reached the moon with John Young on the Apollo 16 mission. He was the 10th person to walk on the moon. Duke is the youngest person to walk on the moon. He walked on the moon in 36 years and 201 days.
Eugene Cernan was an American astronaut and he stepped on the moon under the Apollo 17 mission. He was the 11th person to walk on the moon. He is also the last person to leave his footprints on the moon.
Harrison Smith was the 12th person to walk on the moon. He went to the moon under the Apollo 17 mission. After this mission, he retired from NASA in 1975. He has also taught children in the university.
