Coimbatore: Elgi Equipments, a prominent air compressor manufacturer, marked the successful conclusion of the fifth edition of its annual #WhatsYourFinishLine challenge on November 5, 2023. The 21-day fitness initiative garnered active participation from 154 global teams representing 26 countries, comprising 1644 employees and channel partners.
In a commitment to environmental sustainability, Elgi introduced the ‘Green Champion’ program this year. As a noteworthy gesture, the company pledged to plant a mahogany tree on behalf of each participant. Nearly two thousand neem or mahogany trees are set to be planted in Appanaickenpatti, Coimbatore, later this month. This eco-friendly initiative is estimated to sequester approximately 13200 metric tons of carbon dioxide equivalent over the next decade.
The #WhatsYourFinishLine challenge extended beyond fitness, offering participants a holistic wellness experience. Teams collectively logged an impressive 225.5 million steps through running, walking, and jogging. The program incorporated mood tracking, hydration monitoring, and mindfulness sessions, enriching participants’ overall fitness journey. Notably, renowned experts, Luke Coutinho, a Holistic Nutrition – Integrative and Lifestyle Medicine Expert, and Dr. Almos Sajjath, an ISSA-certified health and fitness consultant, led interactive lifestyle improvement and wellness sessions.
Looking ahead, Elgi Equipments announced its sponsorship of the 11th edition of the Coimbatore Marathon 2023, scheduled for December 17. The company continues to champion health, wellness, and environmental responsibility through initiatives like #WhatsYourFinishLine, furthering its commitment to creating a positive impact on both individuals and the planet.
