Siddaramaiah, new Chief Minister of Karnataka declared that the Cabinet has approved five guarantee schemes which Congress had announced in its Manifesto. Duos CM and DyCM D. K. Shivakumar are very confident of arranging funds for these freebie schemes. These schemes will be active atleast until the General Election which is due next year. Probably that’s the issue which both discussed with top bosses at New Delhi.
Funding such freebies requires a lot of financial planning that too when a government treasury is full of debt. But interestingly, Karnataka is the second top state after Maharashtra in collecting GST. This, it is now very interesting to see how a financial expert like Siddaramaiah will getback the state share while he had earlier blamed previous BJP led state Government for not bargaining with Centre to get back 100% state share.
Newly formed Government now will have a tussle as far as giving portfolios to appointed Cabinet Ministers and also in finalising remaining berths considering all calculations. Now it is not so easy for duo as triangular arrangements are to be done namely for Siddu, DK and Kharge led High Command. Who will get and who will not is going to be one of the major discussions in the coming week.
State has to respond to drought issues on a priority basis and also prepare for monsoon calamities and agriculture. Almost all districts are facing potable water crisis and the whole State Machinery was engaged in election related works in the last 3 months. Now its time to take quick action along with announcing guaranteed freebies.
Creating employment also should be a master goal for any government as no government can run freebie projects in the name of social justice for longer years. Vocational training, self-employability, interest free easy loan support, marketing and business support to small scale medium level startups should also be a priority of the Government which automatically generates economic activities including employement.
Hope this duo’s Cabinet won’t take partial decisions like last time as they duly mentioned ‘Sab ka saath sab ka vikaas’, of course in pakka State Anthem; ‘Sarva Janangada Shanthiya Thota’.
